David Theobald has been at the forefront of the cannabis industry for over a decade. In 2009, Mr. Theobald established one of the first legal medical marijuana dispensaries in the nation, BGOODS Apothecary, located in Denver, Colorado. He then designed a grow facility called Little Boxes Inc., which provided numerous aspiring growers with a home base where they could hone their craft and learn from a master grower. With the passage of the Farm Bill in 2014, Mr. Theobald co-founded Strasburg Pharms, one of the first commercial hemp farms in the United States. This organization soon blossomed into a CBD-rich hemp farming operation with 35 acres and six greenhouses. In 2018, he had the privilege of working with Dr. Winthrop B. Phippen, a professor at Western Illinois University. Under his guidance, Mr. Theobald became the first hemp grower in Illinois, planting hemp crops that hadn’t graced the state’s soil since WWII. Today, David continues the research project he began with Dr. Phippen, using selective breeding techniques for optimizing plant genetics with an emphasis on producing CBD- and CBG-rich certifiable hemp seed stock, as a lead breeder at AgriHemp Seeds.
